Pilates is a complete course of integration of body, mind and spirit, designed in the early 1900’s by Joseph Pilates. The exercises create long, lean muscles with an emphasis on proper breathing and alignment. Pilates is performed with either specialized equipment using springs for resistance or as mat classes. Benefits include: enhanced posture, core strength, flexibly, and it’s the perfect exercise for all ages. Our clients range from teenagers to 90 year olds.

Sheppard Method is a highly effective approach to exercise and conditioning based on the idea that your ideal body is already a part of you. Your task is not to “change” your body but to “liberate” it. Developed and perfected by Risa Sheppard, Master Pilates Instructor, over a thirty-year period. Risa studied with Pilates guru Ron Fletcher, who learned directly under the tutelage of Joseph Pilates. Sheppard Method has helped thousands of individuals improve their lives. The method works from the inside out, developing a powerful mind-body connection. It’s extremely safe, good for all ages and conditions, and the results speak for themselves – increased strength, muscularity, coordination and flexibility. Sheppard Method is taught and practiced throughout the world, and continues to evolve and stay at the forefront of advancements in exercise science and technology.

We recommend 2-3 times a week. The more Pilates you do, the faster you will see results. After just one session you will feel the difference and your body will want more.

Pilates and Yoga are both mind-body systems that focus on breath control. Pilates is practiced on a thicker mat or equipment whereas Yoga is done solely on a thinner mats.
Pilates works your muscles from the inside out.
Yoga focuses on meditation and is usually practiced as a class with 5-20 participants. Pilates can also be practiced in a class but is usually practiced privately.

Pilates is incredibly safe and beneficial. It keeps you toned and preps you for delivery. With the changes happening to your body it’s important you have an experienced instructor with expertise working with pregnant clients. Our instructors understand what exercises are safe to do and how to modify them for each stage of pregnancy and post-delivery.

Pilates is an excellent way to prevent or manage back issues. Building your core helps improves back. Pilates strengthens your core and you gently use all of your back muscles.  For clients with back problems we recommend private sessions. If you have a major injury please consult with your doctor prior to exercise.
